Jay Z: Made In America

As you might already know, I am insanely obsessed with Jay Z. I suppose it all started when he bought out ‘Empire State of Mind’ with Alicia Keys. Then, I bought his Blueprint 3 album, his Greatest Hits (vol 2) album and his collaborated album with Kanye West; Watch the Throne. He stands for a lot more than people think. He doens’t just rap about random rubbish to make a good record. He includes real lyrics that he, and a lot of people, can relate to. I love that he has worked with some of my favourite artists too, including Mr Hudson, Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce, Pharrell Williams and Usher, but still put his stamp on the tracks.

So, Jay Z has been saying for years that he is always taken aback by the amazing festivals that we put on over here in the UK. Having performed at Glastonbury in 2008, and then at Wireless (I was there!) in 2010, and, of course, Hackney Weekend festival earlier this summer, he set up his own festival. On the 1st September, at the Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, the Made In America festival happened and the line up was INSANE!

Joining him on stage were: Skrillex; Calvin Harris; Afrojack; Peral Jam; Rita Ora, Kanye West; Drake; the Knocks and DJ Savoy. He pulled a lot of his favourites in, and caused an amazing event. He was also introduced by President Obama and his video message stating that Jay Z represented someone who ‘never quits’.

Pretty awesome.

Peace and love, Polly May xx
