So, as the British weather decided to absolutely pour down, I thought I would sit down and watch ‘Despicable Me’ starring Steve Carell. My sister had watched it before and had told me that it was definitely worth a watch! So, I sat down with my feet up and my strawberry slim-fast at the ready (I was rather hungry at this point, but am continuing to be good!)
It was incredible! I forgot how much I love animation films and I loved the character of Gru and his quest to steal the moon and become the ‘baddest’ villain after his title was stolen by Vector! I ended up laughing out loud at my television like a crazy person and then towards the end it got a tad emotional haha! Why is it that children’s films are always the most fun/sad at the same time? Haha! My favourite part was the part with the goodnight kisses bit, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, so you need to go and watch :)
In a happy suburban neighbourhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbours, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru, planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon. (Yes, the moon!) Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world’s greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
The music was produced by Pharrell, and I have to say that I sort of loved it, especially the despicable me song towards the beginning of the film. It was so cute and definitely worth a watch, and I now want to go and see Despicable 2… Anyone wanna come with me and pretend we have a child with us so we don’t look out of place? Haha!
Peace and love, Polly May xx
