So, Mumberly only went and bought some gingerbread (ready done) and the cutest little cookie cutters. They are basically little stars and Christmas trees and things and they have a little slot in them so that, once they are baked, you can just slot them onto the side of your cup of tea/hot chocolate/whatever… They are so cute and such a good idea! I love them! So, here’s what she did…
First of all, you will need all of the bits and bobs: the cookie cutters, the gingerbread (or you could make this from scratch), icing sugar to decorate,icing sugar to dust the work surface or chopping board and a rolling pin. Simple. Roll out all of your gingerbread to about a centimetre think and then stamp out as many cookies as you can using the cutters.
Peel away the excess gingerbread mixture and re- roll to get as many as you possibly can…. It’s Christmas! Don’t worry :) Bake in the oven for around 10 – 12 minutes until they have risen slightly and turned golden brown. Take them out of the oven and allow to cool for a little while (about half an hour should do it!) and then ice then as you wish! I did little borders and little dots around the edges and things, but you can be as creative as you like :)
As you might know I love baking and I did loads of it through the the summer. This is such a quick and easy idea, but I can’t take all of the credit because mum actually did all of this. I just haven’t had time tho week, but fear not, I plan on baking quite a bit over Christmas and trying to find healthy alternatives :)
